Sacada Colgada Combinations Workshop

Technique Booster  - Sunday 5th April 2014

with Joe Hudson

Sacada Colgada combinations

The subject of this Technique Booster workshop is sacada and colgada combinations. We'll explore how to flow from one to another smoothly in various ways, that will allow you to play with and enjoy the movements.

Colgadas, danced by some, feared by many. However, with a few simple technique pointers and a little practice to develop trust and familiary they are nothing to worry about. And once you get the hang (excuse the pun) of them, you'll be delighted with the creative possibilities they open up in your tango dancing.

Similarly for sacadas, once the principles are understood you'll find that they can be danced from any foot in just about any position by both leader and follower, and provide a create opportunity for musical expression. In this workshop you'll discover how you're always one extension away from a sacada.

In the second half of the workshop you'll learn how to make simple, fluid combinations of sacadas and colgadas that you can integrate into your social dancing.

All tango dancers welcome who have done at least 6 months regular dancing.

Here is a video showing some of the movements and principles to create them
