Tango Lingua presents :- A special day of tango workshops in
Cheltenham, taught by Joe Hudson on Sunday 30th October 2011 3x 90 minute workshops with a 90 minute
practica. The workshops will explore a range of tango movements and principles to help you get more from the dance. While workshops can be taken individually, certain themes will be carried through and developed from one to the next. The richness of 'Just Walking' with the music 12:00-1:30pmLearn how to express dynamics and phrasing while walking in the embrace, and use weight changes independently for leader and follower. There will be an emphasis on fluid connection and creative input from follower as well as leader, from the very slow to fast movements. Entry requirements: 6 months and onwards of tango experience.
Learn how to make these movements in a comfortable, controlled and musical way, which allow many creative developments for leader and follower. This workshop will explore the contained nature of the 'free leg'. Entry requirements: basic knowledge and experience of sacadas, boleos and leg-wraps.
Using the basic movements to make repeating sequences in the line of dance. We'll look at how to maintain connection with, stay relaxed and enjoy these more advanced combinations. Each stage of repeating a particular movement will be carefully broken down so you can apply it in the dance and create your own playful combinations. Entry requirements: able to hold a stable independent axis, generally confident with sacadas and leg-wraps.
