Core Skills 2

This challenging and fun course is designed to broaden out the tango vocabulary, while consolidating good posture and balance. Over 6 weeks we will develop the concept of the 'free leg' and introduce leg wraps, boleos, secadas and ganchos. We also explore some more decorations and barridas. (Don't know what all those things are? Don't worry, all will be made clear on the course!)

Each new movement, technique or step is introduced first in the form of exercises and games. Moving then towards using the step in the dance in a variety of ways, with the music and in the line of dance. The idea is to give you the knowledge and confidence to start enjoying each new step in your social tango dancing.

The course is strictly intended for those who are already competent with walking, ochos and crosses, and who can generally keep good posture and balance while dancing, as covered in the beginner tango course. This is to ensure that everyone attending Core Skills 2 gets the best learning value possible. (If you're not sure if you're ready, please get in touch using the contact page.)

If you've been dancing for a few months now and are itching to explore some of the more expressive, dynamic, creative, playful, bold and sexy movements in Argentine tango, this is the course for you. If you've been dancing longer, but keep getting unstuck with your leg wraps, ganchos or boleos, this course will help you gain understanding and the confidence to use them in your dance.

Each lesson will offer challenge, while being presented in a friendly and relaxed way. You do not need to book with a partner.

Numbers are limited to ensure that everyone can get personal attention to address any challenges that come up with new techniques and movements.

The next Core Skills 2 course begins on Wednesday 11th January and runs for 6 weeks. Total cost is £47 per person. To book your place now please use the button below.

The lessons run from 8pm-9:30pm each Wednesday and will take place at the Povey's Dance Centre, in Southampton. There is a map on the Find Us page. Questions? Just get in touch.
